性は発音を非常に重視しているんです、今では。
性の中国語の勉強は、まだ発音本をやっているんです。
年間1000分発音本をやるみたいな感じ。もう4年くらい
やっているんだけれど、発音本が半分しか終わっていない。orz.
日本人にとって、中国語の発音は激ムズなんですよ。

なんでそんなマイナーなものに手を出さなくちゃいけないのか。
単語を裏打ちする絵や行動がないし、そもそも価格も高いし。
ドラマならCSIみたいなサイエンス、ロー&オーダーみたいな法律、
ゲームオブスローンズみたいな中世騎士みたいなジャンルも観れるし。

オーディオブックは別に否定はしないけどねえ。
ドラマでよくね？

喋ってる時間はホッとするはずだよ。
効率効率いうけど、日本語でテレビを観る時間を削って
英語でドラマを観てるわけだからね。
小林麻央死去とか一分でも見てる人間は効率なんて言う資格は
ないんだよ。

ドラマ、ネット、オーディオその他は効果あるのでやればいいと思うが
ほんとある程度英語力がないといくらやってもほとんど伸びないという人が結構いるだろう。

ドラマなら物によって長さが違うので一概にいえないが5シーズン分ぐらいみたら話し言葉に慣れ
さらに5シーズン分みると筋は追えるようになり、さらに5〜10シーズン分ぐらいみると結構見れるようになる。
だいたいこんな感じで300時間分ぐらいのボリューム、15〜20シーズン分ぐらいを3〜4ヶ月程度以内に見て上記のような手応えがない人は
これ以上やっても伸びないと思う。

手応えがでる英語力としては、何でもいいが例えばnhkの英語番組（どれでも）を
テキストなしで初めて聞い段階でも理解できるほどの英語力。これくらいの英語力があれば300時間分ぐらいやればかなりの効果がある。
逆にいうとこれくらいの英語力がない人は1000時間分やってもたいした効果はないと思う。

だからかたまに毎日3〜5時間を1年続けて〜みたいな大き目の数字を挙げがちな人がでてくる。
おそらくそういう人は元の英語力が低く、ドラマなどをやってみても効果があらわれず
毎日3〜5時間を1年続けられればもしかしたら自分にも効果が現れると思っているのかもしれない。

そういう人に効果的なのは遠回りなようで実はかなりの近道なその辺のやさしい教材系を初聞きで理解できる英語力をつけた上で
ドラマなりネットなりオーディオなりをやると自分が得たかった実力をつけられるようになる。

【悲報】シンゴジファンの間で主題曲の誤訳が流行【所有格が読めない】

いよいよ地上波でも放映されるシン・ゴジラ だが、ファンの間でメインテーマである Persecution of the masses(1172)/上陸 のコーラス部分の歌詞についてとんでもない誤訳が広がっているという。
学生時代英語がまあまあ得意だったおっさんのA氏はこう語る。

「この詩は大まかには、危機に瀕した人類が皆で神に祈っているという内容なのですが
最後のyour high praiseを、単純に『あなたの高らかな賞賛』と和訳する人がゴロゴロしています。
この文脈でのあなたとは神のことですから、神が人類を賞賛する話に見えてしまう。
神様が滅びかかった人類を賞賛するとは随分変な話ですよね」

では、この部分はどう読めばいいのだろう。

「ポイントはyourという所有格です。所有格には『あなた用の』『あなた向けの』『（手紙や電話などが）あなた宛の』といった使い方がありますから、
このyour high praiseは『あなたへの高い賞賛』と読むべきですね。
我々にはもう、神を讃えてその力にすがる事しか出来ない…といったニュアンスでしょう」

不自然な点は他にもあるというA氏。

「Sacred blessings count for nothingという部分に関してですが、
『主の恵みの、あいなきことよ！』や『聖なる祝福は何の為なのか』といった訳がネット上に見られますね」

直訳に置き換えて言えば、『聖なる祝福が無い』あるいは『聖なる祝福が無くなった』という読み方をしている人が多いと言えるだろうか。

「しかしcount for nothingとはcount（数える）という単語が入っている事からも分かるように、日本語で言えば『勘定に入らない』『ものの数では無い』という意味。
『存在するが、それに意味や価値がない』というニュアンスなので、
『無い』『無くなった』に類する表現では誤訳だと言えます。
また、Sacred には『聖なる』以外の意味、blessingsにも『祝福』以外の意味があり、
Sacred blessingsを聖なる祝福や神の恵みと考えるのも誤りかもしれません。

私は『神に捧げた多数の祈りも、効果が無いようだ』という意味だと思いますね」

最後にA氏はこう警鐘を鳴らす。

「ネットで公開されている個人の和訳は誤訳が大変多い。
単に少し間違っているだけなら人間誰でも間違う事はある、仕方がない、という感じですが、中には読めなかった部分を想像で書いて話を作ってしまう、
つまり意図的に嘘を書いている悪質なケースもあります。
また洋楽の歌詞を翻訳・公開しているブログ等では、閲覧数稼ぎを目的に『CDについてくる和訳を、言葉づかいを少し変えただけで公開する』といった行為を行っている人もいるようです。
しかもそのCD付属の対訳も、昔から誤訳が多いと言われている業界なんですから救いがありません」

「『難解』『解釈が難しい』『何か深い意味がありそう』といったコメントが付いた訳は特に要注意。
大概、英語が読めないせいで訳文がめちゃくちゃになり、ワケがわからなくなっているだけです（笑）」

ネットで拾った情報をすぐに信じず、
それは本当の事なのか、役に立つ情報なのかを自分で検証してみる事が必要…
そんな戒めを感じる話だと言えるだろう。

素晴らしい事だよ。それに、Side by Side は
定評あるよ。もう、みんな忘れただろうが、性は

Side by Side を教科書に採用している英語専門学校が
たくさんあったよ。

負け組はカネがないから、英訳聖書を暗記するとか
洋楽を暗記するとかすればいい。囲碁の先生に

訳を投稿します。これがクリスマスソング翻訳の今年の打ち止めです。

最近知ったんだけど、英語字幕表示で、字幕を1〜2秒遅らせて表示させるのがいいよ。
普通に英語字幕表示させると、どうしても字幕を読みながら聞くからリスニング力が鍛えられないんだよ。
字幕表示を遅らせることで、まず聞いて意味を考えてから正解が表示されるから効率的。

WindowsならVLCプレーヤーでGとHキーで字幕の表示タイミング変更できる。
AndroidならMXプレーヤーでできるよ。

目指す所にもよるし目指す上達スピードにもよるし現在のレベルにもよるんだろうけど、そこそこ英語学習してきた俺が得た結論は、
洋画やドラマで勉強するなら普通に日本語字幕で観るやり方が一番効果的だよ。
ただし、字幕だけに頼るのではなくあくまで聴こえる英語に意識を集中させながら字幕はあくまで補足用に見る程度にね。

日本語字幕で観るのは巷では一番ダメだとされてるやり方だしここのみんなも絶対ウソだと思うだろうけど。
一番意味ないのは英語字幕な。
あんなもん、字幕を読むのに必死で音声なんか全く耳に入ってないし、しかも付いていけなくて何回も巻き戻すか内容分からなくてストレスで続かないのがオチ。
勉強やってるような気になってるだけで労力対効果が一番低いよ。

それはある程度のレベルに達しているやつの話だろ。初級〜中級者は音と文字が一致してなすぎて、英語音声なんて呪文にしか聞こえん。日本語字幕だけ見て、普通に映画楽しんで終わりだよ。

ネイティブとスラングや口語表現交えながら話したいならドラマとか映画しかないよね。
それ以外のシチュエーションとして、上品な英語で話したいなら市販の教本で十分。
向こうもこっちの丁寧な英語に合わせてくれてるから会話で困ることはない。
ただしネイティブ同士のカジュアルな英語はほとんど聞き取れないだろう

リズムアンドブルースで短く、
脚韻が交互にあってリズム良く読める。楽しい。
洋楽をよく聞いてた頃はメロディと楽器のリズムを聴くばかりで

それによると、
１ まず歌詞を普通に読みなさい
２ 次にそれに少しずつメロディを足していきなさい。
３ 声を張り上げないで普通に歌いなさい。
このやり方で洋楽を学ぶと上手くなった…
気がするわ。
